TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT: Special Project Planned
Local police are trying to improve the morning and evening commutes in the Des Moines metro by cracking down on traffic law violators.
Up to nine officers will be posted along the Interstate-80/35 corridor during the peak drive times. Officials are keeping the days officers will be watching a secret, but they are saying they’ll be on the job several times during the next three months.
The goal is to get drivers to travel at a constant speed.
Officers say mixing fast and slow speeds leads to crashes and congestion.
