The Des Moines Public School Board plans to discuss the superintendent search in a closed meeting Thursday.

The deadline to apply for the superintendent position ended two weeks ago, since then a search firm has reviewed the applicants and is expected to report their findings to the board.

According to the meeting agenda there could also be an open public session to discuss the search after the closed session.

The district hopes to have the new superintendent hired in time for the 2013-2014 school year.
