The small southern Iowa city of Lamoni is bearing the brunt of the storm. But people there are taking it in stride.
Downtown Lamoni was a ghost town Thursday night. Most people closed up shop before the snow hit. About the only people saw around were the city’s two plow drivers. They say, fortunately, this storm didn’t pack as much of a punch as we expected.
“It’s not coming down really heavy but the snow’s really light so it’s easy to plow,” Public Works Director Curt Shields said. “We’re able to scrape it all the way to the road surface so we’re not having a lot of packed surface on the roads.”
The city’s concern now is drifting snow, covering up the roads that workers have worked to hard to clear.
