Typically the day after a winter storm, the phones ring off the hook at metro towing companies, but not this time.
“This one was dramatically less. I mean the very first snow we were turning down five calls to every call we could actually do. It was that huge,” Randy Crow said.
At Crow Tow in Des Moines they towed just 25 cars after Thursday’s storm compared to 100 cars in each of the past two storms.
They say a lot of that is because of how well the roads we’re cleared.
The Iowa Department of Transportation called it the perfect Iowa storm because the amount of snow and the type of snow played in their favor.
Dennis Howe with the DOT said, “Well this storm was a lot easier. Temperatures were a big help. Temperatures were a lot colder this storm which kept the snow from packing on the roadway.”
