A new well-being index has pushed Iowa into the top ten healthiest states in the nation.
The latest Gallup index ranks Iowa as the 9th healthiest state in the United States for 2012 that is up from 16th in 2011.
The Gallup index is based on six measurements including life evaluation, physical health, emotional health, healthy behaviors, work environment and basic access to medical services.
To compile the data, Gallup interviewed 1,000 adults 7-days a week.
The index says Hawaii and Colorado are the top two states.
Governor Branstad wants Iowa to be the healthiest state in the nation by 2016.
