A truck driver escaped a fiery crash Thursday morning in eastern Iowa.
Waterloo police say the semi truck was driving on Highway 218 when it crashed on the bridge above Washington Street around midnight. The cab was dangling off of the overpass with the driver still inside.
There was also gasoline burning on the ground below the semi.
A short time later, the driver was able to free himself from the cab and drop himself to the ground.
Later, as the city street crews and towing company were clearing the scene, the fire reignited and caused an explosion.
The driver, from St. Louis, Missouri was issued a citation for failure to maintain control of vehicle.
No one was hurt.
