The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has issued a boil advisory for Attica.
DNR officials say Pershing Utility had a water main break and had to shut down the line so repairs could be made. That means bacteria could enter the water.
Officials say once the repair is made the line will be flushed and they’ll test the water for bacteria before the boil advisory is lifted.
Residents are urged to boil water for at least one minute and allow it to cool before drinking or using in cooking. Bottled water can also be used. Using water for bathing or washing clothes is safe.
