GIRLS’ STATE: Three Champs Crowned

With 5 classes this year that meant one more championship game.  On Friday, three champions were crowned.

Class 1A: Top ranked Newell Fonda took on #3 Central Lyon. In a close game, it was eventually to much from the Lions, Central Lyon is your 1A champ with a 63-61 victory.

Class 2A: Western Christian beats Lawton Bronson 75-58 for the 2A crown.

Class 3A: Davenport Assumption runs away with the 3A title with a 62-40 win over Estherville Lincoln Central.

The Class 5A final will be an all-metro affair on Saturday. Dowling Catholic will face Southeast Polk. In the 4A, Harlan will play Cedar Rapids Xavier for the crown.
