A Des Moines car chase ended in an officer firing his weapon Saturday evening.
Shortly before 6.30 p.m., Officers tried stopping a SUV near the intersection of South Union and Chaffee Rd.
The routine traffic stop turned in to a short chase when the SUV fled from the fully marked patrol car striking it at least one time, according to Sgt. Jason Halifax.
The standoff ended when Senior Police Officer Bryan O’Donnell fired one round from his duty weapon into the suspect’s car.
There were no injuries to any of the car’s three occupants but they are now being interviewed by police.
We will update this story as more information is released.
