HEART SURGERY: Senator Recovers, Dems Lose Majority
Democrats in the Iowa statehouse are without a senator at a time when key bills are being considered.
Senator Tom Courtney of Burlington is recuperating from heart bypass surgery. The 65-year-old democrat underwent the procedure on Thursday.
It is unknown when he’ll be back to work.
To have a majority vote in the senate, 26 votes are needed, without Courtney, there are only 25 democrats.
