There’s a matchmaking event in Ames Wednesday, but it’s not to find the perfect date.
The University of Iowa Marrow Donor Program, Be the Match, is holding an event. They want people, between the ages of 18 to 44 to volunteer to be on the donor registry.
Younger donors are best for patients because they provide the greatest chance for transplant success
All it takes is a simple cheek swab to get your name on the registry.
The event is being held Wednesday and Thursday at Mary Greeley Medical Center from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The team is also asking for contributions. It costs about $100 to add a member to the registry.
