The Iowa Department of Public Safety says law enforcement officials in northeast Iowa are asking for the public’s help in a homicide investigation.

The body of 70-year-old Carl “Kenny” Gallmeyer was discovered at his Nashua home on October 4th, 2012 when the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence after receiving a request for a welfare check.

An autopsy performed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office says Gallmeyer’s death was a homicide, but the cause of death was not released in order to protect the investigation.

Officials say Gallmeyer’s home was burglarized at the time of his homicide and several things were taken. They hope the public can help with investigation by letting them know about anyone selling electronic items, tools, or firearms in late September through early October. They say anyone who may have bought the stolen items will not be prosecuted for purchasing stolen property.

If you have any information in the case you’re asked to contact the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office at 641-394-3121.
