A Kanawha man who hit and killed his girlfriend while she walked along a northern Iowa road in August won’t be charged in her death.

The Mason City Globe-Gazette reports the Wright County Attorney won’t press charges, even though 28-year-old Jonathan Roelofsen had a blood alcohol content over the legal limit at the time of the accident. An Iowa State Patrol investigation found that alcohol wasn’t the cause of the accident.

Twenty-six-year-old Sabrina Reibsamen had been walking north in the traveled portion of the southbound lane of Wright County Road, when Roelofsen struck her heading south. The accident happened late at night on August 27th, 2012.

Roelofsen won’t face charges in Reibsemen’s death but Wright County Attorney Eric Simonson says he may face other charges.
