Northern Iowa drew Illinois State in its first game of the Missouri Valley Tournament. It’s a team the Panthers have already beaten twice this year. In fact, they beat them less than a week ago.

It’s never easy to beat a team three times in a season.

Illinois State started on a 10-0 run, former Marshalltown CC Tiger, Tyler Brown doing the damage early. There were 5 first half 3-pointers putting the Red Birds in control early on.

But as Brown started to come back to earth, Mark Sonnen took off knocking down three 3-pointers to close out the first half.  And just like that the Panthers, take a lead into the locker room.

Tyler Brown eventually scored 28 points on the way to a Illinois State win, UNI go down 73-65.

It's the third straight quarterfinal loss for UNI at the MVC Tournament.
