While residents in western and central Iowa are trying to clear snow and ice, folks on the eastern side of the state are having issues with flooding.

Heavy rains and melting snow have eastern Iowa and western Illinois under flood warnings.

The English River is out of its banks in Riverside. According to the National Weather Service, the river is at about 18-feet, which is 4 feet above flood stage. It’s forecasted to remain at that peak through Tuesday and then slowly drop.

In Waterloo, several city roads were closed due to high water and on Sunday, flash flooding in Cedar Rapids forced public works crews to shut down the Prairie Creek Bridge.

Morrison, Illinois just east of Clinton has declared a flood emergency.

Public works crews are sandbagging in several areas of the town. Officials say creeks that run through the town are overflowing and several businesses are taking on water.

City crews are asking people to come help sandbag.
