SLIPPERY ROADS: DOT Warns Drivers
The Iowa Department of Transportation is cautioning drivers about poor road conditions in parts of the state, saying some roads are even impassible.
Roads in western and northeast Iowa are partially to completely snow and ice covered and central Iowa roads are also slick. Visibility is an issue for drivers as well because of gusty winds of up to 45 miles per hour.
The DOT says snow plows have been pulled off the roads in some areas because of unsafe conditions. The plows will get back on the roads when it becomes light and the intensity of the wind lessens.
The DOT says Roads in the Correctionville, Denison, and Ida Grove areas in northwest Iowa are impassible.
Drivers should make sure to have an emergency kit in their car in case they become stranded.
