Attorneys began making closing arguments Monday morning in the Seth Techel murder trial.

The 22-year-old is facing first degree murder for the death of his wife and non consensual termination of a pregnancy for the death of his unborn child.

The state argues the evidence of Techel’s guilt is overwhelming.  Prosecutors claim he killed his wife to be with another woman, lied about it, and then made up a story about another shooter.

Techel’s defense maintains his innocence.  His attorneys say the state’s motive doesn’t hold up.  Techel wasn’t going to leave his wife for the other woman.

The defense began arguing late this morning and continued after lunch.

The jury left to begin deliberating just after 3 p.m.
