A Boone road is back open Wednesday after a train hit a semi-truck Tuesday night.

The Boone County Sheriff’s office says the truck driver tried to go around the crossing arms at the Quartz Avenue crossing around 8 p.m. A witness told deputies the train hit the rear end of the semi.

Emergency crews responded and only minor injuries were reported.

Traffic had to be rerouted for a short time while crews cleaned up the wreck.

The accident remains under investigation.
