The DNR has released a new tool to help hunters improve their experience in the field.
The Iowa Hunting Atlas gives users an interactive map of the state’s 600,000 acres of public hunting land.
The atlas allows hunters to find basic information on hunting zones and open seasons, but it also lets hunters zoom in to see the lay of the land. Users will be able to get directions to certain areas and directions from one parcel of land to another.
The atlas is currently available on computers and tablets. The DNR says they are working on an app for mobile phones so hunters can access the atlas in the field.
