STUDENT DIES: Young Girl Dies After Medical Emergency At School

A child passed away after a medical emergency at a Des Moines School.

Paramedics were called to the Smouse Opportunity School Tuesday morning after a nurse found a seven-year old girl not breathing.

The girl was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Officials say the child had a long history of medical problems and was taking more than a dozen medications.

The child’s name isn’t being released.
