A liberal group visited the Iowa statehouse Tuesday to share their views on the American Legislative Exchange Council.

The group, Progress Iowa along with the Center for Media and Democracy says the republican leaning organization known as ALEC has too much influence in designing legislation.

They argue ALEC’s ideas for tax spending and education reform are not what Iowans want. The group held a press conference at the capitol to voice their criticism of ALEC for not releasing names of donors who fund the group.

Progress Iowa  does not release names of their donors either, but say their situation is different because ALEC operates on a much larger scale.
