ARMED MAN: Nine Hour Police Standoff

A Sioux City man is in custody after a nine hour standoff with police.

Authorities responded to a domestic disturbance call at a home on Helen Street around 1a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, an armed man refused to come out of the home.

Police say other people inside were able to leave.

Around 10 a.m. a swat team broke out the windows of the house and took the 26-year-old man into custody.

The suspect’s name has not been released.
