With the Saint Patrick’s weekend, expect plenty of people to be partying and plenty of police officers looking for drunk drivers.
Police plan to be out in force, not just in Des Moines, but throughout Polk County. And they say they’re taking a zero tolerance stance on drunk driving.
“We got a full contingent of officers working.” says Sgt. Steve Woody with the Des Moines Police Department, “We`ve got quite a few extra duty officers working Saturday in particular with the Court Avenue Bridge closure, Fourth street closure, numerous permits from bars and restaurants, we`re expecting thousands of people downtown.”
