An Iowa State Patrol trooper shot in the line of duty is being selected as one of 10 officers to receive a national award.

Trooper Mark Domino will receive the Top Cops Award. It’s given out by the National Association of Police organizations.

The ISP’s Colonel David Garrison says Domino showed courage while he investigated two people who robbed a bank in Maynard in October.

Domino was shot in the right bicep during a chase with the two suspects.

Another law enforcement officer was also shot by the bank robbers. Sumner Police Chief Dennis Cain was shot in the neck and the hand.
