The wait is over. Selection Sunday is here and its official, Iowa State is in the NCAA tournament.
The Cyclones had to wait until the final bracket was announced to see their name appear. It took about 45 minutes but the Cyclones could finally exhale, their name was called.
There were smiles all around and plenty to cheer about. Iowa State in the big dance for the 2nd straight year.
Cyclones are a 10 seed in the West region and will face 7 seed Notre Dame on Friday. This game will be played in Dayton, Ohio. Tip time will be announced later this week.
Iowa state are 22-11 overall and they avoid the 8-9 matchup.
This is a winnable matchup for ISU and they’re just excited to be in the Big Dance.
Notre Dame basketball isn’t quite on the same level as the football program but the Fighting Irish are solid. They also may wear those awful green highlighter uniforms, sunglasses may be required.
Ranked 24th, Notre Dame finished 6th in the Big East with a 25-9 record. They average 70 points a game. All in all this should be a great first round matchup.
