TECHEL CASE: Venue Change Requested
Prosecutors are asking for a change of location for the second round of a murder trial.
Seth Techel’s Wapello County trial ended in a mistrial last week.
The jury was first seated in February and the trial stretched on for nearly a month. The jury became deadlocked and the judge declared a mistrial.
Techel is charged with first degree murder and non-consensual termination of a human pregnancy for allegedly shooting his pregnant wife Lisa in their home last May.
Prosecutors say Techel killed his wife so he could continue an affair with a co-worker. Techel’s defense blames the murder on an intruder.
A hearing on the change of venue request is set for April 1st.
