CASINO VOTE: Warren County Special Election Set
A special election date has been set for residents to decide whether they want a casino in Warren County.
The Warren County Board of Supervisors voted Tuesday night to approve a special election on May 7th. The measure would allow gambling games at a casino to be approved in Warren County.
A group of city and business leaders unveiled the plans for the casino last month. Along with the casino it would include a 150 room hotel, an entertainment center and a bowling center. The estimated price tag of the project is $100 to $125 million.
It’s estimated the casino would create more than 600 jobs in the area.
It would be built between the Southwest Connector and Highway 28 in Norwalk.
A simple majority is needed for the measure to pass.
