The Food Bank of Iowa received a generous donation to help fight hunger Wednesday morning.

Around 35,000 eggs were donated and delivered by Rose Acre Farms.

Eggs are one of the most prized items for food banks because of their nutritional value and adaptability.

“It is also such a nutritious product and it’s so versatile, so what came in this morning is going to go right back out this morning,” says Carey Miller, executive director of the Food Bank of Iowa.

Miller says hunger knows no season and their food supplies are running short.

The Food Bank of Iowa provides food to more than 100 partner food banks and programs across the state.
