The Mahaska and Wapello County Sheriff’s Offices are investigating an alleged enticement incident at a school.

A letter sent home to parents of students in the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Community School District, says the incident happened Tuesday at Eddyville Elementary. Four male students said during recess a man in a white minivan with a gold stripe invited them to go see puppies.

Officials say the boys were on school property, on the other side of a fence, and no one got out of the van or stepped on school property.

The Mahaska County Sheriff’s Office says there were two white males in an older model minivan.

The school has made plans to have more staff monitoring recess and take further safety precautions for the next few weeks.
