TAX BREAK: Senate Passes Low-Income Tax Measure
The Iowa Senate has approved a measure that would give a larger income tax break to low-income residents.
The bill gives households making under $4,500 a year a $250 tax break. Democrats say this will help poverty in the state and impact about 210,000 families.
Republicans argue the proposed credit is too high and unrealistic.
Lawmakers passed the measure 35 to 15.
The bill now moves to the house.
