CHILD PORN: Plea Deal For Grimes Man

Generic Justice Scales

A Grimes man has taken a plea deal after originally being charged with attempting to entice a minor to engage in sexual activity.

Twenty-five-year-old Nathan Long was indicted in federal court earlier this month. The charge stemmed from an investigation by the Pleasant Hill Police Department, which is an affiliate of Internet Crimes Against Children.

Long made contact with an individual he believed to be 14-years-old over the internet in 2012 and made plans to meet the minor for sex. When Long showed up for the planned meeting in March of 2012, he was met by an undercover police decoy. That’s when he was arrested by Pleasant Hill police.

Police obtained a search warrant during the investigation and found child pornography at Long’s home in Grimes.

The plea agreement reduced the enticement charge to receipt of child pornography. Long faces a mandatory five year prison sentence and five years of supervised release. He will have to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison.
