FATAL CRASH: Northern Iowa Man Killed

One man is dead after a crash in Kossuth County early Friday morning.

The Iowa State Patrol is investigating what caused the accident that took the life of 56-year-old Robert Sabin of Lakota.

Officials say the accident happened on Highway 169, two miles north of Algona, around 6:20 a.m. Sabin was driving southbound when a northbound vehicle driven by 36-year-old Jeremy Sweeney of Titonka crossed the center line. The vehicles hit almost head on.

Sabin was pronounced dead at the scene. Sweeney was taken by air ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Mason City with serious injuries.

The drivers were the only occupants of the vehicles.
