VETERANS PROGRAM: Adaptive Snow Sports
Snow in March isn’t something many people in central Iowa are looking forward too, but out in Colorado snow is an important part of a special veterans program.
A resort in Vail invites veterans to visit and learn how to ski with adaptive equipment.
Besides being a lot of fun, the program helps veterans in the healing process.
Petty Officer Taylor Morris experienced it. He says, “It’s a great feeling to be able to go out and snowboard on your own.”
The sailor from Cedar Falls lost a portion of all four limbs in an IED attack in Afghanistan last May.
Morris and girlfriend Danielle Kelley already have an eye on their future. Kelley says skiing is something they’ll now be able to do with their kids someday.
