Des Moines police may have a break in a carjacking case from February.

According to the Des Moines Register, detectives plan to file charges next week against multiple suspects.

On February 27th, police found Mike Wasike’s car abandoned at a Southside apartment complex.

Police believe Wasike was assaulted the night before during a carjacking. He suffered severe head trauma and was put in a medically induced coma. He has since emerged from that coma but remains unconscious in hospital.

Police say a break came in the case when two people reported they had escaped from carjacking attempts the same night in what appears to be a random act of violence.
