The identities of the two killed in a crash near Solon in eastern Iowa have been released.
Cornell College said one of the victims was 18-year-old first-year student Madison “Addie” Hubert of Colorado. She was a passenger in the car driven by Jeffrey Bertucci.
On a post on Cornell’s website, President Jonathan Brand said, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Addie and the injuries to Colin. Cornell is a close community and everyone is affected.”
Wilbur Bigler, 68, from Western Union was the other fatality according to the Iowa State Patrol crash report. Bigler lost control of his vehicle. It crossed the center lane and subsequently got broadsided by Bertucci’s Buic.
Four others were injured in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.

Police in eastern Iowa are investigating a fatal car crash involving two cars.
It happened just north of Solon near Highway 1 and 120th Street around 9 Saturday night.
Police say a driver in the south bound lane lost control of its car, crossed the center lane where it got broadsided by another with five people inside.
Two people died in the crash.
