The wrestlers weren’t the only ones hoping for a victory in the NCAA Tournament, the Des Moines Conventions and Visitors Bureau was hoping it would be a success for the city too.
And it was… the CVB says preliminary calculations show the tournament left behind a $15 million economic impact.
It also broke NCAA records for fan fest attendance.
In all, over 20,700 people went to fan fest during its 4-day stay at Hy-Vee Hall. Saturday was the busiest day with over 8,000 visitors.
Visitors could watch matches on big screens, see clinics, buy gear and get autographs.
