Lawmakers at the state house will hear from a group hoping to expand Iowa’s bottle deposit law on Tuesday.
The group, calling themselves the Better Bottle Bill Coalition, will hold a rally at the capitol at 8:45 a.m. They believe the current bill is popularm but by expanding it even more materials could be recycled.
The Better Bottle Bill Coalition is asking lawmakers to expand the law to include water bottles and sports drink bottles.
The group says only 26 percent of bottles that aren’t covered by the deposit law are currently recycled.
They also say expanding the bill will add 300 jobs.
