Des Moines police are investigating an accident, after one of their officers was hit by a car.

Police say it happened around 11:20 Sunday night in the 3100 block of 30th Street.

Officer Candice Lassiter was outside with a stalled car, when it appears another driver lost control and hit her with the car.

Paramedics took her to the hospital where she was in critical but stable condition. Police say she is awake and does not have any broken bones.

Officers are still investigating what happened, but say the driver of the vehicle that hit Lassiter was 49-year-old Cory Wyllie of Van Meter.
