A Des Moines police officer who was struck by a vehicle Sunday night while on duty is back in intensive care.

Police say 33-year-old Officer Candice Lassiter was assisting with a stalled car in the 3000 block of 30th Street when a vehicle slid in icy conditions and hit her. She was taken to a local hospital in critical but stable condition, and was moved out of intensive care Monday.

Tuesday, Lassiter was returned to intensive care because of her doctors’ concerns. No details were released.

The driver of the vehicle that hit Lassiter, 49-year-old Corey Wyllie of Van Meter, was cited for failure to maintain control.
