Hawkeye women fought hard, before losing to Notre Dame, 74-57. Even in Iowa City, that’s a respectable loss in NCAA women’s basketball where the gap between the #1 seeds and everyone else is enormous. Many years all four #1’s make the Final Four. Lisa Bluder did a nice job this season…

Bill Fennelly can be tough on his players, but no one questions how much Fennelly cares. His locker room speech after the loss to Georgia shows the emotion and heartbreak of the end. Watch it here. Bonus points for the great Dr Seuss quote. (Thank you to Iowa State for sending us the video. Takes a few seconds to load and be seen toward lower left.)…

Giacoletti has head coaching experience, led Utah to a Sweet Sixteen (later fired), and a few other mostly successful stops…

I’m looking forward to seeing if Iowa can win at Virginia Wednesday night. The Cavaliers have won 19 straight at home–one of those wins over Duke. A win by Iowa at Virginia would be impressive, NIT or not…

I’ll be at the first annual Colon Cancer Awareness Run/Walk Saturday morning in Clive. I’ll be there, in part, to honor my friend, Jennifer Allison. Hopefully Jen will be there too. She’s a fighter. Please join us if you can. Colon cancer claims 50,000 lives each year, but can be prevented in many cases with screening. More info on the run/walk here

We’re taking the kids to Grizzlies vs Timberwolves after the run/walk. It’s a good time to buy Twolves tickets…

USA and Mexico play soccer to a 0-0 tie. And absolutely nothing about that sentence is surprising…
