Today in Iowa undisputed #1 in morning news

Channel 13 News UP double digits in EVERY weekday newscast

Channel 13 News at 5 hits 16 year high; Channel 13 News at 6 within 1.8 shares of #1

The February television ratings have just been released and WHO-HD continues its upward ratings momentum with double-digit growth in EVERY weekday newscast.  Today in Iowa continues as the undisputed #1 morning news leader. Channel 13 News is now within a miniscule 0.7 shares of #1 at 5 PM with 57% growth and 1.8 shares at 6 PM with an incredible 86% growth.  And despite one of the worst primetime February’s in NBC’s history, Channel 13 News at 10 managed 15% share growth and is now within 6 share points of #1.

The 29 share achievement for Channel 13 News at 5 is its highest in 16 years.  In July 1996, the station achieved a 32 share at 5pm.

At the same time, KCCI weekday news shares dropped by double digits from 6 to 7 AM.  And at 5, 6 & 10, WHO-HD’s gains were 2 times, 7 times, and 3 times greater than KCCI’s, respectfully.

“We’ve been listening to central Iowa viewers explain what they want,” says WHO-HD President and General Manager Dale R. Woods.  “It’s about choosing good stories and telling them well.  It’s about a team you like and trust.  And more than ever, it’s about a commitment to Iowa weather.  That’s why we’ve expanded our team to 5 full-time meteorologists, have the only 24/7 weather channel and mobile apps to warn and inform with exclusive live streaming.”
