Ray Giacoletti is staying a Bulldog but he’s switching schools. Drake University is hiring the Gonzaga assistant as its head men’s basketball coach.

After just two weeks of searching Drake made the official announcement at a Thursday afternoon news conference.

Giacoletti has been an assistant at Gonzaga since 2007. Before that he led Utah to a sweet sixteen, winning national coach of the year. And before that he was head coach at Eastern Washington University where he won 71% of conference games. He was the 2004 Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year.

He takes over for Mark Phelps, who was fired earlier this month.
