There’s a sign warmer weather is just around the corner.

“We’ll open up first thing tomorrow morning, open for season, so come on out, we’ve missed ya,” Golf Course Manager Ned Chiodo says.

Des Moines’ three public golf courses will open for the season Friday.

You can play a round of golf at Blank, Waveland or Grandview for about $30.

The manager of the courses says the snow’s moisture is actually helping the courses and the greens are looking good.

Golfers have been getting antsy waiting for opening day. “This is the latest we’ve opened for probably 15 years or better…back in the 70s and 80s it wasn’t unusually to be getting open around April 1st, but since the 80s we’ve always been open in March…much earlier than this…this is unusual,” Chiodo says.

Legacy golf course in Norwalk also opens its doors Friday.
