Des Moines police are searching for multiple suspects accused of beating a middle school student after class Wednesday.

The 13-year old victim says he was walking home from Hiatt Middle School when he was approached by a group of kids he didn’t recognize.

Two of the kids assaulted him, punching him multiple times causing bruising to his jaw and eye.

The Vice Principal of Hiatt saw the incident happen and recognized the two suspects as former students.

“There’s obviously more serious things that could happen and we`re happy they didn`t, but again we want to send the message loud and clear that we`re not going to tolerate this and the victim shouldn`t have to tolerate it either,” Sgt. Jason Halifax said.

Police have not yet made an arrest, but say both suspects could be charged with simple assault.
