If you plan on eating one of those delicious chocolate bunnies this Easter weekend, you’re not alone.

One metro chocolate company says Easter is the third largest holiday for them.

“A tradition that’s always been a part of the chocolate storybook is personalizing Easter eggs and this year, we’ll do over 2,000 Easter eggs and that means the Easter bunny will make a lot of kids happy tomorrow morning,” said owner, Steve Shearer.

Chocolate Storybook in West Des Moines says Easter follows Christmas and Valentine’s Day when it comes to chocolate sales.

Although they were busy Saturday, the company still had some bunnies leftover at the end of the day. But the company doesn’t throw away the sweet treats. Instead they go to make someone else’s holiday a little sweeter.

“It makes us feel really good. When we first bought the business we would have surplus and be down on ourselves but now we want everything out of the store by the end of the day today and we’ll take that down to the House of Mercy so they can have a nice Easter,” explained Shearer.

Shearer says on the eve of any big holiday he and his daughters deliver more than one hundred eggs to House of Mercy.
