Tuesday marks World Autism Awareness Day.
Every year on April 2nd, autism organizations around the world observe the day with awareness programs and fundraisers.
Clay Elementary School in Altoona has committed itself to the day by having everyone in the school wear the color blue. The school is also educating students on autism and ending the day with an assembly and photo shoot.
The group Autism Speaks says this developmental disability affects 1 in 88 children. It also has no medical detection or cure.
The Empire State Building is also colorfully celebrating the day by lighting its tower blue in honor of Autism Speaks.
