Sioux City will not be suing the federal government for its role in the floods of 2011.

A Missouri lawyer is currently seeking landowners and cities affected by the Missouri River flooding to join his class action lawsuit. He says the flooding was caused by improper management of river levels by the Army Corps of Engineers.

Sioux City leaders say they won’t join the lawsuit. They also say other major cities including Omaha, Council Bluffs and Kansas City won’t be suing either.
