Metro fire officials are trying to determine what started a house fire Wednesday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to the 400 block of Benjamin Boulevard in Pleasant Hill around noon where they found smoke and flames coming from the lower level of the home.
Crews from Pleasant Hill, Altoona, Johnston and Delaware all responded to the fire.
One woman was inside the home when the fire started, she and a cat were able to get out safely, unfortunately a second cat did not make it.
Fire investigators say it appears an appliance in a utility closet could be the cause, but they will continue to investigate.
The home sustained around $100,000 damage.
