In 2012, the Department of Transportation investigated 54 motorcycle crashes and 56 fatalities.
The highest number of deaths occurred in May with 12 deaths.
The Sheriff’s office also encourages all bicycle and motorcycle riders to wear helmets, even though it is not required by law.
