ATTEMPTED MURDER: Man Charged After Stabbing

An Ottumwa man is charged with attempted murder after a stabbing early Friday morning.

Ottumwa police say they stopped a vehicle in the 1900 block of E. Main Street around 3:10 a.m. and discovered a passenger in the vehicle was suffering from several stab wounds. The stabbing victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Police learned during their investigation that the stabbing took place at The Royal Rest Motel at 2211 Roemer Avenue.

The suspect in the case, 34-year-old Clint Loveall, was arrested around noon Friday. He is charged with attempted murder, a class B felony, and is being held in the Wapello County Jail on a bond of $25,000.
